PCS to JBER this summer - housing recommendations?
We're arriving in June with two kids and a dog. Looking at base housing vs. off-base in Eagle River or Wasilla. Anyone have recent experience with wait times for on-base? Budget is around $2,200/month off-base.

Base housing wait times are currently 4-6 months for family units. If you're arriving in June, definitely start the application now even if you end up going off-base.
Great question! We did off-base in Eagle River and loved it. Schools are solid and the commute to JBER gate is maybe 15 minutes.
Wasilla at $2,200/month will get you a 3-bed with a garage. Eagle River is tighter at that budget but closer to base. Happy to share some current listings if you want.

Pets can make off-base trickier. Some landlords still have breed restrictions. Ask about that upfront.
