Layer 1: One ID Check
Before anyone can list, post, or message, they prove they're real. The same check applies in every category.

- Government ID: Checked through our verification partner
- Required for: Listings, garage sales, events, Lodge posts, and messages
- Kids: Supervised accounts linked to an ID-verified parent
Layer 2: Community Reputation
Every transaction builds history. Every review matters.

New posts are checked against our rules before they go live.

One Check for Everyone Who Posts
On FrostBoard, one rule covers every category. Before anyone can list an item, host a garage sale, post an event, write in The Lodge, or message another member, they confirm their email and phone and pass a government ID check. - Ask questions. Legitimate sellers respond
- Meet in safe, public locations when possible
- Never wire money or pay in gift cards
- If it seems too good to be true, it probably is

What Changes When Everyone Who Posts Is ID-Verified
Most online marketplaces do not verify who their users are. Anyone can sign up with an email address, post a listing, and disappear. That is the model on most general classifieds and unverified marketplaces. FrostBoard takes the opposite approach.
What Goes Wrong on Unverified Platforms
- Fake listings. Scammers post items they don't own, collect deposits or "shipping fees," then vanish. Without verification, there's no real consequence.
- No-show buyers and sellers. Anonymous profiles mean anyone can waste your time without accountability.
- Stolen-goods laundering. Stolen cars, electronics, tools, and firearms move through unverified marketplaces because sellers don't have to prove they are who they say they are.
- Bait-and-switch and counterfeit items. When a seller's identity is hidden, accountability is hidden too.
What FrostBoard Does Differently
- One-time ID verification. Anyone who lists, posts, or messages passes a government ID check first. ID verification is a one-time $5, free through December 31, 2026.
- Community reputation. Buyers and sellers build a verified reputation across every transaction. Bad actors lose access.
- Listing review. Every new listing and garage sale is checked against our rules before it goes live.
No system is perfect. Verified marketplaces still require buyers and sellers to use common sense. But the difference between a platform where everyone who posts or messages is identified and a platform where nobody is identified is the difference between a community and a free-for-all. FrostBoard is the community.
