What do you do with my information?

We store your name, email, phone number, mailing address, and verification status. That's what we need to run the platform and contact you if there's an issue with a transaction. What we DON'T store: Your ID image, your ID number, or any biometric data. When you verify, your ID goes to iDenfy (a third-party verification service trusted by 500+ companies in banking and fintech). They confirm you're real and tell us verified or not verified. We never see your actual ID number or keep a copy of your ID image. We designed it to store the minimum needed to confirm you're a real person and to contact you when necessary.

Why should I pay when Facebook is free?

Accepted Answer

Facebook is free because you're the product. When you get scammed on Marketplace, Facebook doesn't care. No verification. No accountability. No help. Good luck. FrostBoard charges $5 because we're building trust infrastructure. That $5 means the person you're dealing with had to prove they're real. It's the difference between anyone can post anything and everyone here is accountable. Different models. Your choice which one you trust.

What if I don't want to share my ID?

You don't have to share your ID to use FrostBoard. You can browse every listing, view every rummage sale, read every conversation in The Lodge, and check out every event without verifying anything. ID verification is only required when trust matters — when you want to post a listing, message someone, create an event, or participate in The Lodge discussions. These are the moments where knowing who you're dealing with protects everyone. If you're not comfortable with ID verification, you can still browse and search. But if you want to participate in the community, verification is how we keep everyone safe.

Can't scammers just pay $5 and verify anyway?

Scammers want anonymity. They don't want a verified identity tied to their fraud. The $5 barrier plus ID requirement eliminates 95%+ of casual scammers before they even try. For the sophisticated ones who might slip through? We have AI-powered scam detection, community reporting, and rapid response. When we catch them, they're banned permanently — and we have their verified identity information to share with law enforcement. The verification requirement isn't foolproof. But it's a massive improvement over platforms where anyone can create an anonymous account in 30 seconds.

What forms of ID do you accept?

Accepted Answer

We accept: Driver's license (any U.S. state), State ID card, Passport (U.S. or international). Important for military members: Please do NOT upload your military ID. Use your driver's license or passport instead. Scanning military IDs creates security risks we'd rather you avoid. If you're having trouble with a specific ID type, click the Help button in the bottom right corner and submit a support ticket. We'll work with you.

How long does verification take?

Accepted Answer

Under 60 seconds for most people. You upload your ID, follow the prompts to take a quick selfie, and iDenfy does the matching automatically. If something doesn't match or the image is blurry, you'll get a chance to retry immediately. In rare cases where manual review is needed (maybe 1 in 100), it can take up to 24 hours. We'll notify you either way.

What if my verification fails?

Most failures happen because of blurry photos, glare on the ID, or poor lighting on the selfie. You'll get a chance to retry immediately. If it keeps failing, don't give up. Click the Help button in the bottom right corner of your screen and submit a support ticket. We'll review your situation personally and find a solution. We're not trying to keep you out — we're trying to keep scammers out. If digital verification just isn't working for you, we offer mail-in verification for $10 (to cover the manual review time).

Question 8

What happens to my verification if I delete my account?

Accepted Answer

Your verification status is tied to your account. If you delete your account and create a new one later, you'd need to verify again. But why would you? Your verification is permanent as long as your account exists. One and done. Keep your account, keep your trust.
