Did You Know Firearms Are Welcome on FrostBoard?

Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist banned firearms outright. The places that still allow it hand you a listing and leave you on your own.

That matters more than usual this month. Moose season is already underway in parts of Alaska. Units 21B and 21D opened August 22, more units open through September, and the dates vary by game management unit, so check the regs where you hunt. Rifles are changing hands right now across the state, and every one of those deals runs on trust somebody has to take on faith.

It starts with the rifle. What it is, what shape it is in, what it comes with, whether the price is anywhere close to fair. That part is easy enough to ask about.

The rest was never so easy. Who is this person. Where are they actually. Has anybody ever dealt with them before. And if the whole thing goes sideways, is there anywhere to say so that anyone will ever see.

Not the guns. The anonymity.

FrostBoard was built so that trade has somewhere accountable to happen.

Firearms are welcome here

They are listed openly alongside boats, trucks, snowmachines, and everything else Alaskans actually buy and sell. Every buyer and every seller is government-ID verified before a single message is sent, and the conversation happens inside FrostBoard. Ask about condition, history, or where and how you would meet, and get an answer from a named, verified Alaskan without giving up your phone number to find out.

Two-way reviews are built in, so reputation accrues to a real person instead of an anonymous handle. And if someone gets banned, they cannot come back with the same ID.

FrostBoard is not a party to any transaction. We connect a verified buyer and a verified seller, and that is where our role ends. It is peer to peer. We do cooperate with law enforcement investigating illegal activity. For everything else, read our firearms policy.

Post the rifle, the optics, or the gear that is not coming out this season, and let a verified neighbor put it to use. Post a listing.

Academy is open

FrostBoard Academy was featured this past week in the IDEA Homeschool newsletter, under the headline "FrostBoard Academy is open to Alaska families." Academy completes the five-pillar stack.
